Learn more about New Hope

Our focus is in our name—hope.

We’re a church that’s not too churchy to be real. Life is a gift from God, but not without its challenges. Yet, we find a way to show love, kindness, and compassion. Perfection is not required in order to do that. After all, we are human. In our humanity we turn to God to be our strength, so that we can be encouraging, prayerful and actionable in helping others—even while finding our own purpose and peace. Your relationship with God is your own. We want to support you in being authentic in that relationship. Helping you live intentionally and to be the best version of you in every season of life. Collectively with God’s divine help we can elevate perspectives, bring people together, empower our communities and change lives positively.

Faith, hope, & love.

NHM is full of love. We find our foundation in the good news of Jesus Christ and God’s love for mankind revealed through the Bible. Love it expressed not just through what’s given, but also by what’s given up. We learn to be transparent with God and honest with ourselves. It’s essential to developing a personal relationship. We don’t let denominations or genres of church get in the way. We all started somewhere, but how you finish is what’s important. Love is expressed not just through what’s given, but also by what’s given up.

Genesis, not the book—ours.

New Hope Ministries was founded by Elder Moses L. Scott, Pastor Emeritus. It was started in 1995 as a home bible study. Fast forward to April 1999, God blessed him with a small church building in Chesterfield County, Virginia, transitioning Elder Scott from teacher to Pastor and launching a holistic-focused ministry. God has blessed New Hope, literally enlarging the territory with more land, a larger building, and a sister church and orphanage in Kenya.

After 21+ years of faithful, dedicated service Elder Scott entered a new chapter of his life, retiring as Pastor of New Hope Ministries.  A new chapter began with the installation of Elder Oliver W. McCutchen, Jr. as Pastor in June 2021.

Our Pastor Emeritus is a spirit-filled man who loves God. He is a common sense over nonsense, passionate servant. His goal has always been to help others find “new hope”— see what we did there.

Elder Scott is an RVA native and happily married to his wife, Lady Regina Scott, who has been with him faithfully serving in ministry every step of the way.

To God be the glory for the things He has done!
